We are looking for the best indie/self-published book in any genre to award the following prizes:

RULES 2024

Who Can Enter

Anyone of any age, gender, or background, from anywhere in the world, who has published a book with an indie publisher, or self-published their book in English, on Amazon KDP. All genres welcome.

Publication Dates – 2024 Awards

Your eBook (Kindle book) must have been published September 1, 2023 through April 1, 2025.

Kindle Format Books

You must give us the link to the Kindle (eBook) version of your book as published on Amazon.com when you pay your reading fee.

When To Enter

You can enter the 2024 SPR Book Awards April 11, 2024 through April 1, 2025.

Reading Fees

Early Bird fees until December 1, 2024 ($30), then a Standard Fee until April 1, 2025 ($35).

The Book

• The book must be available for sale and published on Amazon.com or co.uk as a KINDLE eBook before you enter, as you will need to send us the URL for your Amazon Kindle eBook page on entry.
• We do not accept entries in paperback only, or unpublished works, because we cannot fulfill the prizes if you only have a paperback or unpublished book.
• The book must have been published after September 1, 2022, until April 1, 2024.
• The book must be a first edition, i.e. never published under another title or format.
• If the book is a sequel or other book in a series, the book must have a standalone story that our judges can relate to without reading the other books.
• The book must be provided in PDF, Word, Open Office, ePub, or mobi format. No other formats will be accepted for judging.
• The book must be in English.
• The book must be entered by the author, or with the author’s permission.
• The book must be an original work.
• We do not accept gifted books, kcb files, or email attachments. Please upload the book to our system after buying your entry as instructed in your “Thanks for your Purchase” email in PDF, Word, Open Office, ePub, or .mobi format ONLY.
• The book may be any length, genre, or size, including self-help, non-fiction, children’s, religious, and travel.

Entering The Competition

• The 2024 competition opens April 11, 2024, until April 1, 2025, 12 midday PST.
• We will close entry on April 1st, 2025 at 12 midday PST. Any entries must be uploaded to our system by this time.
• You cannot change your file once it is uploaded for 24 hours or more.
• Judges will be the SPR team. Each entry will be read by at least two judges.
• You may add Reader Comments to your entry fee to receive reader’s notes sent to you on your book. You will receive a short critique of your book plus a mark out of 25, showing where you came in the contest, in PDF format. You will be sent these notes between April 12 and May 10 after the contest ends.
• No refunds on any entries, except in the case of duplicate purchase in error.

Winners and After The Competition

• We will announce the finalists on April 9 2025 and winners on the website’s Entrants Page and on our social media on April 10 2025. Winners will be notified by email of their win. We reserve the right to choose as many or few finalists as we think qualify for this honor.
• If you do not hear from us, please check this page for details on April 10 2025 after 2pm PST.
• All entrants will be listed on our Entrants Page with a link to preview and buy their book until the next competition is coming to a close, when the new entrants will be listed (usually at the beginning of April). If you do not wish to be listed, let us know on entry.
• We will not be able to give individual feedback on entries. If you want feedback, purchase the Reader’s Comments when you enter.
• No cash alternatives for the prize.
• It is the winner’s responsibility to ensure they have an eBook on Amazon for us to run the prize. If you only have a paperback, we can format you an ebook file for a fee so that you can upload this to Amazon KDP to qualify for the contest.
• We cannot activate the prize on a paperback or box set. No cash alternatives.
• All entrants will get 10% off SPR Reviews, Beta Readers, and editing for the remainder of the year from April 10.
• Entrants may buy their Reader’s Comments after the contest for a slightly higher fee of $89.
