GET YOUR BOOK EDITED AT SPR
Get your book into professional shape with our editing packages at Self-Publishing Review, with one working-month turnaround.
The SPR Edit combines line editing, copy editing, and developmental editing for a comprehensive yet economical editing option for independently published authors, or those looking to get their book manuscript into good shape for agent submission. This is the first step you should undertake once you have finished your draft before you seek a proofread. We will read your book and make notes on character, plot, style, and development of the book, and suggest any weak spots that may need rewriting to improve your manuscript’s readability and commercial viability.
We will provide, within one month, a report summarizing the issues and merits of the work and any suggestions, along with a fully marked up copy of your manuscript for you to revise.
You will be required to submit in Word format (.doc, .docx), as your comments and tracking are provided with the Review Tools in Word. We do not accept PDFs for this service.
The SPR Edit
The SPR Proofread will catch any pesky errors in your text. We can stare at our own writing forever and miss the most obvious mistakes. Proofreading should be the final process for your book before publication or agent submission. We will read your book and mark spelling, formatting, missed words, and any other grammar errors for one full sweep, on a Word document of your book manuscript.
We will provide, within one month, a fully marked up copy of your manuscript for you to revise.
Please note we advise you not to submit your manuscript for a proofread until you have had a full SPR Edit or other copy edit elsewhere.
You will be required to submit in Word format (.doc, .docx), as your comments and tracking are provided with the Review Tools in Word. We do not accept PDFs for this service.

What Books We Accept
We accept all books except:
- Specialist science, theology, child psychology, programming, math, or methodology books. This is because this requires a specialist editor in your field.
- Books of moral opinion that contain anything that could be considered hate speech, such as religious, sexuality, ethnicity, or gender bias.
- Books about hunting, killing, breeding, or sporting animals.
- Books of political opinion.
How We Edit
We use Microsoft Word Review Tools to complete your edit. If you do not have Word, let us know and we will provide your marked up manuscript in a different form. We cannot edit or supply hard copies, ebooks, or PDFs.
How We Charge
We charge for the entire word count, including front and back matter. The prices above rely on a minimum standard of Native English in your manuscript.
If you are not Native English-speaking and your level of English makes your book more challenging to edit, you may be charged a supplement of 15% of the price of your edit.
Encyclopedias and other reference books start at $14 a page. Please contact us for more details.
