The Request for Lambency by ileso DMC

Although there are many different belief structures surrounding religion in the world, one underlying theme remains quite constant: “You can’t take it with you.” However, what if some greater power suddenly changed that rule? In The Request for Lambency, a visionary new YA novel by ileso Dmc, readers are whisked off to a near future where people can, in fact, take one thing into the afterlife with them.

This development obviously creates a mania all across the globe, a craze that feels all too possible in this age of viral desperation to make it big, and the modern propensity to monetize and capitalize on anything and everything. These “requests” for objects to be taken into the afterlife raise questions of morality, spirituality, and what actually matters – in both life and death.

Powa, the core character of this fast-paced read, gets involved with those who want to make money off this miraculous new phenomenon, which sets her on a wild, emotional, and hard-hitting adventure to San Diego with a motley crew of would-be heroes.

In this creative dystopia, the world is a frightening vision of the possible future, depicted and described in chilling prose. Though awkwardly titled, The Request for Lambency is a timely novel, with plenty of parallels and tongue-in-cheek prophecies about where we may be heading in our own lifetimes, making the novel an excellent new addition to the YA genre, but relevant for readers of any age.
