A scientist and a Christian, Dele Babalola has composed a book of Biblical analysis directed towards those of his faith and any others who want to share in the blessings of the coming end times in his treatise The Bible in a Nutshell: An Invaluable Aid to Understanding Creation, Life, The Rapture, End Times, Death and The Afterlife.
Beginning at the creation of all life, Babalola points out correctly that science is still baffled over the precise way the universe came into being. He examines the many theories – Big Bang, primordial soup – yet none of these show original cause. Whereas, he states, the Bible describes creation story logically and chronologically.
It is by far the bestselling book of all time, and though many who have read it do not fully believe (28% of Americans according to a 2014 Gallup Poll), and others have not had a chance to read it in their native tongue, most people have been told of its contents. The fact that so many copies exist, that we base years and dates on its teaching, and that much of it is historical fact, offers convincing corroboration that it contains valuable lessons and warnings for all humankind. It is also a “spiritual menu” that can transform lives, as it did for the author.
Exploring Biblical prophecy, Babalola believes we are in the end times predicted in the Book of Revelation and elsewhere in the Bible. Wars are predicted Biblically, and as of 2017, 758 groups were involved in wars, anarchy, and conflict. The place of Israel is highlighted; the author speaks of current threats to that country, and its many blessings, including the large number of Jewish billionaires who have “revolutionized the world via information technology.” The Earth is a ticking time bomb, so Babalola urges readers to accept Jesus Christ and begin looking for survival strategies.
Babalola is a consultant general medical practitioner born in Nigeria and now resident in Australia, where he experienced a religious conversion. He writes skillfully, with equal parts of religious fervor and cool-headed scientific and historical knowledge, which will give his book credence even for non-believers. His book is thoroughly organized and though centered on an ancient text, his writing is sufficiently informative and topical to keep the modern, possibly skeptical reader’s attention.
The many examples he presents come from purely Biblical sources in some cases, and in others, from statistical data that he has studiously researched, offering several pages of references for his readers. One interesting example he cites is that in the end days, no one will be able to buy or sell without “a mark on his right hand or on his forehead,” a reference, Babalola believes, to the cashless microchip. Though he wishes all persons to become Christians, he also states that if a person simply has a Bible, he or she possesses the written historical record, and the future predictive materials that can guide him/her through this coming chaos.
Aimed at a wide audience, Babalola’s book would make an excellent study guide for Christians and a sound source of information for those curious about the faith.
