Sales Is My Passion by Amaro Araujo

Amara Araujo, an international sales executive of twenty years’ experience, has organized this sales methodology manual in highly readable fashion.

In Sales Is My Passion: Sales Management Best Practices on Preparation, Negotiation, and Closing Deals with Confidence, Araujo outlines the importance of sales in daily life – not just for the salesman, but all the ways that sales can impact people’s daily lives. Though achieving the sale is of course the goal, the purpose is also to improve people’s lives in some way, even for relatively small purchases, but especially for major purchases like buying a car. Sales shouldn’t just be driven by a profit motive.

Obviously, completing the sale is paramount, so Araujo likens sales to a science, and lays out a foundation for understanding both the competition and potential customers. Araujo goes step-by-step through the negotiating process, reminding us that negotiating is something we do all the time. In some way, we’re all salespeople, trying to persuade people in myriad ways so these life skills can translate to sales, and vice versa.

Araujo writes with authority and, yes, passion that is free of hard sell tactics about his own success, and instead humanizes the selling process in a compelling and surprising way. By book’s end, one might look at the selling process in a much different way – not necessarily as predator and prey, but a relationship that can be mutually beneficial. It’s a message that salespeople would do well to take to heart, and using Araujo’s tools should help salespeople improve their sales style, and therefore bottom line.
