Canada’s first awards for self-published books will be presented at Inspire! Toronto International Book Fair, an exhibition for print and digital books that launches in November.
The Creation of Stories: Canada’s Self-Publishing Awards are open to all Canadians who have produced a book between July 1, 2013, and September 1, 2014, using any self-publishing platform. For information, visit torontobookfair.ca/awards.

“The Creation of Stories: Canada’s Self-Publishing Awards” is the largest self-publishing award in Canada celebrating creativity and excellence in self-publishing. With $50,000 in prizes available to be won, the awards recognize achievement in writing and give independent Canadian authors incentive to publish their work. Three grand cash prizes of $3,000 will be awarded to the winning books for each of the following categories:
- Books for an adult audience (Age: 19 and up)
- Books for young adult audiences (Age: 12-18)
- Books for children (Age: 0-11)
In addition to the cash prizes, winners of “The Creation of Stories: Canada’s Self-Publishing Awards” will also receive up to 100 printed copies of their book, professional marketing consultation, a full Blurb marketing campaign, and a trip to INSPIRE!. All winning entries will be available for sale at INSPIRE!.
Blurb & AASC are also thrilled to announce The People’s Choice Award. In October, the public will have the chance to vote on nominated titles for this prestigious, $1000 cash award.
